Is it bad that mine hurt insanely? I can hardly eat anything. I failed at eating oatmeal this morning,

@Pupsqueak3 Your teeth should feel pressure when it is turned and that should last for a few minutes. But your teethcan also be hurting from braces on your teeth if you have them as well. this will make it difficult and painful to chew. This should go away after a few days. If you have any severe pain or symptoms that last longer than a few days call you orthodontists office and ask if it is normal in your case.
Good Luck

If you get braces with an expander, will you still get a big gap?

@JBGIRL4EVA100 Weather you get a space between your front teeth will depend on how your orthodontist has you turn the expander. The more frequent the turns the biggger the space. But the space will always close over time.
Good luck

My Ortho says I should be getting mine around next month. I was just wondering if it hurts to tighten it. I have a couple more questions. What does this fix? I know it fixes an abnormally small mouth so you can fit all your teeth to be straight, but I also have a cross-bite, wil it fix that as well? And for my final question, does this slur your speech heavily? I talk alot...I really don't want this to affect my speech.

@AprilToniaRuiz Lot's of questions! It does not hurt when it is tightened, you will feel pressure. While an expander does make more space for your teeth, the main purpose is to widen you upper jaw to correct a narrow upper jaw with a crossbite. There is always some affect on your speech. But if you talk alot you should get used to it in a week or 2 and most people will not notice any speech issues when you talk to them.
Good Luck
