this scene creeped me the fuck out when i was a kid
-
@TotalFedor Argonian Emperor.

When did Ian McDiarmid record the words from Empire? The dialogue was changed for the DVD release. Or is it a sound-alike? Including I McD is the one change in the Special Edition which made sense but they changed the dialogue to make a fundamental change to the story, which made it worse!

the 1980 one looks more creepy

even though the original emperor doesn't looks as good, the dialogue is much much better. i hated the changes to the dialogue in a new hope between darth vadar and obi wan.

The fuck is up with his eye on the original
never noticed that as a kid haha

The face in the original is creepier.

@beauferret Not only that, but also in regards to 123BEST789's comment, I think "the son of Skywalker" was used so it would save the big surprise for the audience at the end, because at the time this movie was originally released, people had no idea Darth Vader was Luke's father. If Palpatine had said "Your son must not become a Jedi" that would have spoiled it immediately and the ending wouldn't have had the shock/drama that it did at the time.

In the words of Bill Cosby: KILL THAT BOY!

@123BEST789 He knew he has a kid cuz padme was preggers. He donsent know who at this point yet but all fingers point to luke because hes force sensitive.
@pacitto1000
That has nothing to do with living in the 80s. The original dialogue is far more engaging than the expository crap about "Anakin Skywalker's offspring destroying the Death Star" from the 2004 version. This is straight and to the point. And far more Sith-like.

To be honest, it kind of disturbed me that the Emperor from 5 didn't look like the Emperor from 6. So I guess this remastered version works better. Yes, I have seen the original films FYI.
