With oil running out and the planet heating up, there's a lot of interest in new public transportation systems these days. But some existing subways already provide billions of rides each year. In this original GOOD Video, we look at the numbers the world's biggest subway systems are putting up.

NYC has a pretty extensive subway line, though the only train that doesn't go through Manhattan is the G, and according to Good, it's still not that good for non-Manhattanites. But there was a light rail proposed that would go through Bklyn, Queens, and The Bronx. I like the NYC subway except it's kind of dirty, it's loud, and delays are commonplace. But at least it has express stops, unlike the Paris Metro.

  • No, the original metro stations have NOT been completely replaced. I was going to add that, but YT's character limit is woefully low. And I come from America, so there's no queen or king. And I was in London on family visit, but I didn't get to use the Underground because we just drove through London quickly, not really visiting anything, so I don't really know. More specifically, I come from New York City. (continued on next comment)

  • I don't think the Art deco has been completey replaced, it very much apart of paris. why would they replace it, brings in tourists. Along the same lines why we won't get rid of th redundant queen, where u from, do you have a queen? There is line in london where its stop have two sets of door in the centere. there are blast doors, again completely pointless since there are many other lines in the central. regaqrdless the paris metro is still cute in comparison

  • Well, I think one might think the Metro trains are like little buses is, well, the rubber wheels, like a bus. But I've found that they trains are still pretty loud. And also, the old Art Noveau subway stops from the 1900s are all but completely gone, replaced with more modern stops. Also, I've found that the trains are different depending on the line, some have crank doors, some have pull doors, one even has barriers protecting the commuter from the tracks. It's different every line.
