busas must be slow cause everyone always says that they smoke busas.

I learned how to ride a motorcycle when i was 16 on a big ass chopper my dad owned. first bike i ever owned was a Suzuki GSF 1200 Bandit.. lowered. 8 inch extended swing arm. upgraded carbs. vance n hines exhaust. etc.. would smoke a busa from the redlights like it was nothing. so all these people saying oh i need to learn oh its a good learning bike.. just be quiet! haha

I like the 06-08 models the best. I love my 09, but the taller fairings and analogue gauges look wicked sick.

u must launch very well. triumph street triple does 3.5 secs. and 11.9? thats gsxr600 territory, are u sure?

o my, that bike is awful lol. i hate the mobile guages, suzuki never bothered to intgrate them like on a proper full faired bike. the fairing looked tacked on. it wasn't very quick either. i babysat my friends for a week was to tall (except i had the sv650 shock) to have good confidence fast enough to be insane fun. i rode my 250 for most of the week. i was impressed with the gas mileage though. 500r is uglier but better in my opinion. check out a zzr600

mine does that too, and i think its perfectly normal. the clinking depends on the temp for me (which varies alot in canada)

Yeah I am in the same boat now. Had a GS500 and am looking at these. I am leaning more for the FZ6.
I bought an 08 Ninja 650R about a month ago. I still have to get my gear so I have not ridden it yet. I'm also kinda freaked out by the gravel road that I have to ride on to get to the main road, but I figure if I keep it below 20 mph on the gravel I'll be ok. I can't wait to ride it though.

Yeah, I don't really like riding mine on gravel. You can feel the front tire wander. I just stay on the hard packed part if possible and go really easy on corners and braking (i tend to mostly use the rear brake on gravel). Hope you enjoy it otherwise!!

Would you recommend this as a first bike?

Yes :) It works well for me.
My choices were narrowed down to 3: Yamaha FZ6 Suzuki SV650s Kawasaki Ninja 650R
The 650R seemed like the best buy. I'm glad I got it. It helped me get confident quickly and the ergonomics and control-ability are hard to beat.
I rode a friends ZX-7 and of course the ZX-7 was faster. But in my opinion, the ZX-7's extra power wasn't worth what it lacked in comfort / ease of control.

i had the 07 in red and i loved it but i soon upgraded to a zx6r 2008 because i learned so fast on that bike and its great and i kind of wish i still had it because of its comfort.

Have you tried wheelies on either bike? Just curious to know if it's easier to control / maintain / balance a wheelie on the zx6r.
