  • They don't give you a lot of letters to finish up, do they? Probably a good idea, in my case, anyway ...

Anyway, "Put You Down" is a pretty heavy rocker (from "With These Hands," RYKO, 1996), an album which also has some pretty ballads ... that got me started on this commercially-ignored career musician, and I'm always left more satisfied with each subsequent release. He doesn't want to be world-famous, he doesn't want to have a #1 "hit single, (although the money would be good), he's real."

  • That should be "you're" (second word, second paragraph; I was down to "0" characters.

Might as well finish the thought. I came across "Put You Down" via an Uncut compilation, and, after reading more about him, realized we were being re-acquainted. Ah! Just located it in the stacks (Mp3's dont just "compress" music; they shave off everything above and below fixed frequencies -- Okay for work or whatever else with an appropriate device, but try them on a proper system, and you'll be surprised.

  • Mr. Escovedo came up through the ranks (The Nuns, the obsessed-with-themselves Rank and File Kinman brothers (see interview, and the hotshot young lead player in the shadows on "Amanda Ruth" here), and then slogged it out in Austin, TX and area. It shows.

If your unfamiliar with his work, may I suggest "A Man Under The Influence" (2001), in which his distinctive use of violin and cello with acoustic guitar, and his range as a singer-songwriter is highlighted.

He's on tour now, so let's go!
