Steam Bending Weekend 2011 - Charlie Whinney Associates

In July 2011, Charlie Whinney associates ran the second annual Steambending weekend, a 3-Day course designed to teach advanced steam bending techniques to professional furniture makers, woodworkers, students, architects, teachers and enthusiasts. This video will give you a glimpse of what we got up to on the first two days.

As well as extensive practical tuition, the course comes a comprehensive steam bending manual, and features hands-on sculpture and furniture design, with a steam-bent chair that is built and finished in an afternoon. It is also an opportunity to experiment with the technique, and every year new insights are gained into the steam bending process.

Hello, its charlie here. Just to say I am running next course on July 6th, 7th and 8th 2013. Should be most be most comprehensive course ever. It will include some proper thick bends and some new interesting 'over-lap' bending and obviously moving the focus away from beautiful Ash trees (which are my favorite) :-(

yes - in the newly roofed workshop! Dates are 11th to 13th August 2012 and this year we are bending some BIG pieces for benches as a demo on the Monday plus a few new things. Maybe be seeing you there. Cheers, Charlie
