Never brush from front to back or side to side, you will Rip the stylus out of the cantilever!!!

This is a great cleaning method that i've used for a about a year now - it really does work better than anything else i've tried and it is super cheap too. I recently got a couple of older records that looked mint but left a white gunk on the needle and have found that it really was making the needle distort and had to be a bit more thorough with the method to get it clean - doing the slight pull as you did here and also angling the eraser to try and thoroughly clean all the sides.

@RobertC19850209 .....anything you can do to stabilize the lp and firm up the contact with the platter/mat will improve the sound quality as it drastically reduces micro-vibrations that can/will muddy/blur the sound. i religiously use a clamping device of some sort.

Wouldn't the weigh of the clamp tend to slow the speed and/or stress the motor ??
