Keri Hilson - 'Pretty Girl Rock' on The Late Show with David Letterman

R&B singer, Keri Hilson brought an old meets new school vibe to The David Letterman Show last night. A perfect way to ring in a new decade. With elements pulled from the great girl groups of the 60's, Hilson proves she's a force to be reckoned with in the current musique industry flooded with aspiring R&B singers.

Now kiddas, you know very well I'm no stranger to throwing my own private listening parties. When it came time to get an ear-full of Keri's latest effort which was released the week of Christmas...I can say this, their are far more worthy tracks than that of her contemporaries. All of whom released records themselves recently (uh-hmm Ciara, Cee-Lo, Chris Brown, Willow Smith). As always, I've got your appreciative backs covered kiddas.

This is a fantastic song, a powerful anthem, and the video is a great tribute to leading Black female trailblazers of days gone by. But let's not sugarcoat the truth here: Keri has terrible breath control and sounds nasal when singing live. She can carry a tune, yes, but she is certainly not a singer. She and Rihanna are the same in this aspect, but Rihanna edges her out because she has a persona and more radio-friendly pop hits.
