Animal rights groups have had several legislative victories in recent years, convincing voters in other states to restrict specific livestock farming practices. Farm Bureau members in Virginia are concerned that voters here could be misinformed that farm animals should be treated the same as pets. Virginias farm families work hard to provide good care for their livestock, and existing animal cruelty laws already do a good job of protecting farm animals. Did she actually claim that battery cages are a tradition?! What nonsense! The practice has only been around a few decades. It's a post-WWII practice of intensive animal agriculture, not a tradition.
