A trip to the living museum of Mystic Seaport in Mystic, Connecticut is an unforgettable one. Visit this quaint New England port for a taste of American heritage.

  • Continued: I love the seaport and have worked in a variety of roles there. Just don't want folk to have misconceptions: visit their website for a clearer picture. - PG

  • Continued: Whaling was important in the 19th century, but not even vaguely a mainstay of the area's economy. Whaling is an important part of MS, but only ONE part of many.

  • Continued: The staff, (interpreters, not tour guides) do not generally play period characters with the exception of the (rare - usually one on a day) Roleplayers.

  • Actually: Mystic looked very little like this a century ago, and was a Shipbuilding and not a whaling town (closest was New London). The "village" is an amalgam of many buildings from differing periods, several of which were moved to the site.
