Rakesh Chaurasia is the nephew and disciple of the legendary flautist Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia. Adept at playing the popular and folk music, he is equally at home in the Indian classical genre. Despite constant demands by the "Bollywood" industry for his services towards film and stage music, he has not shied away from his ambition to carve a niche for himself in the Indian classical genre. Over the last few years, he has increasingly accompanied Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia on the international classical stage that has helped to hone his skills further. Now, slowly emerging from the shadows of his illustrious uncle, from whom he has imbibed not only the generosity of spirit and humility but total dedication to his craft, he showcases his skills in this first-ever classical album.

  • curiousbutwithvalues, many thanks for a succinct and fluent response to the music, thrilled that it has moved you to comment. We will be uploading many more clips in the near future

  • Thanks for your comment. I'm afraid we don't have any more of Rakesh Chaurasia - this was a concert he performed for us here in Leeds, UK in March 2008. Please do keep looking at our YouTube channel where we will be updating videos from our events.

  • Amazing!!.. No words to explain... a master piece!!.. :). thanks for great upload... if am not wrong, is this raag Desh??

  • Terrific! When people who are unfamiliar with Indian classical music listen to this for the first time and say, "That's nice!" or "That is fantastic!" or "That is beautiful!" you know you got something! We do need more morons in the world listening to these kinds of music, learning to step beyond their comfort zones. We also need to assert ourselves better without being too passive and without becoming goraa cocky. I hope people in the Middle East listen to these kinds of music too!

  • Wah! Kia baat hai. Keep up the great work, Rakesh Ji. God bless you. Harjit Pabla, Toronto

  • this is amazing
