Neil Diamond performs "Cracklin Rose" in this promo for the CBS concert to be aired August 14, 2009. The DVD for the full concert will also be released Friday, August 14, the day this special airs on CBS. Go buy or order the DVD. You will not be disappointed. The sound and video quality on "Hot August Night NYC" is amazing. It's the next best thing to actually being at a Neil Diamond concert.

The man's voice still sounds amazing. I saw him in 2001 and it was one of the top 2 concerts I have ever been to(the other being Paul McCartney).

...turned 65 the other night...had some real "cracklin' rose" with an excellent steak and my wife of some bazillion years. Some things just can't be put into words.

Saw Neil in the 70's, 80's, 90's, and then in Nashville in '01 the November after 9/11--the man just keeps getting better and better. I don't think that anyone has ever been more of a man born to be a performer than Neil. Not a bad songwriter either, you know.

Saw his last 2 shows in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. I'm now 38 years old, was sitting beside my mom with my nephew who was 9 at the time. This music is for every generation. No matter who I speak to, if music preference is questioned, I always state that, in my eyes, Neil Diamond has no equal. I love Metallica, Eminem, ABBA. But Mr. Diamond always strikes that chord in me. It doesn't get better than this!

Neil recently said this song was about Caroline Kennedy. I always thought is was about a bottle of cheap wine i.e. "Store bought woman". Hmmm...
