http://www.ipsf.com Our Tiny Turbo Snails eat nuisance algae and breed unassisted in marine aquariums. They therefore meet our criteria for inclusion in nano reef systems.

When we select only organisms that can grow and breed by themselves in our aquariums we increase the resilience of these captive communities and improve our long-term chances of success.

When marine organisms cannot or will not breed in a given captive system it is often an indication that the system is TOO SMALL for them, potentially lacking available space, food, habitat or some other requirement critical to reproductive success. As attractive or entertaining as these organisms may be, perhaps it would be wise not to include them in our tanks.

When marine organisms do breed on their own in our nano reef tanks it is an excellent sign that we have met their basic biological requirements satisfactorily. In achieving this we help relieve harvesting pressure on wild populations of these organisms.

Please use only captive-bred organisms in your reef aquarium.

  • these snails just apear on the lettuce or u got 2 and they reproduced

  • We like to begin by adding 6 or more specimens to a nano tank. That forms the nucleus of your breeding population.

  • Thank you for a great suggestion! For now we're covering the basics for a newbie tank with soft corals and invert cleaners. We consider this to be an entry level lagoon biotope with low maintenance and lighting requirements. For tanks in the 10-15 gallon range, choice of organisms is very important for long term stability. As stressed in this video we favor captive-bred organisms that are capable of breeding unassisted in the tank, and this applies to fishes as well as inverts.

  • Great informational video !

Thank you so much for posting it.

  • I was wondering if you are going to go over the number of fish to add to a nano reef based on gallons? I have a 15Gal, and already have a very small yellow watchman goby, 2 blue hermits, 2 bumble bee snails, & a margarita snail. This is a new hobby for me (my 1st salt tank). & I have found your videos to be very helpful & informative. I would very much like it if you could do a video or two on the type of reef safe fish to add for a 10-15gal marine reef tank. Thank you so Much

  • oh snap, i need to get some of that sea lettuce for my refug..all i have in there now is cheato.
