The issue is not what he knows but what he puts out there, into public consciousness. I haven't watched the full doc yet but it's clear that he is NOT transmitting the bigger picture. OF COURSE world affairs aren't controlled by the (ex-) KGB, and OF COURSE a 'defector' like Golitsyn isn't required -as he suggests- to get an inside perspective on the SU, on the KGB, on Lenin's mind.
