Well, the actors representing the Dutch pilots use a bit of dramatic license (facial expressions), but the transcript is undeniable. The KLM pilot made the mistake. It is disturbing that the Dutch authorities tried to blame the Spanish ATC and the Pan Am crew when their own crew was so obviously at fault. It is like pulling the trigger and then blaming the victim for not getting out of the way of the bullet.

@89sagit also they posted their own report since no airliner wants to be blamed for something undefinate. Since that blame would just critically effect their income. And airlines are not only about safety, but about money, since safer they are more income they get(basics).

You are wether a nationalist or an idiot, although those two are not far from each other. It is basic human factors in this accident. The KLM Captain was over confident in his actions since he was the "star" and experienced pilot in KLM, also he was not just blinded by the experience, but also by the hasle he created to get back home on time. Tha'ts only for pilots...

Loads of commments on this documentary and the documentary itself are making the KLM pilot seem like the dutch equivalent of hitler or something, cut him some slack, i'm sure if he had any idea something like this was going to happen he would have acted differently. I appreciate that a lot of people died and he has to partially accept some blame but it really was just a series of unfortunate events that nobody intended to end like this. RIP to all who lost their lives...

@harkovadm many Dutch people are arrogant, they seem themselves as superior and more clever, so it's convenient to blame other 'inferior' race people, next they will tell you that it was the other pilots' astrology circumstances that caused the accident, Dutch don't make human mistakes, they even have remote viewing skills and can see through fog, or so they think when they are high on beer or marihuana..

Ja ik weet niet veel over het "air traffic" Maar het is hier heel duidelijk dat het "star pilot" van KLM heeft jet grootste fout gemaakt om niet te wachten op Oke van de control toren.Jammer Jammer erg Jammer hoe 583 personen zijn overlijden door iemands onverantwoordelijkheid!! Language barriers, Pam Am possibly mistaking C4 to be the third exit............whatever the reason, the fact remains, KLM's pilot did not have ATC clearance to move his plane, he only had clearance on the path he would be taking after take off...........moving his plane is a separate command which he did not wait for. Fuck the dutch on this one.
