Mahalo software expert Sean Hewitt offers an overview of the MediaMonkey interface.

Player Controls
----------------------------------------­-----------------------------

In the bottom left-hand corner, there are the basic player controls:
* Stop
* Forwards
* Play/Pause
* Backwards
* Stop Playback—MediaMonkey stops playing through the playlist after the selected song.

In the bottom right-hand corner, there are more player controls:
* Shuffle—plays playlist songs in a random order.
* Auto-DJ On/Off—a feature that will automatically play songs for you.
* Equalizer—brings up the Equalizer Window.
* Repeat—after the playlist is played, it will start again.
Rating—a five-star rating system you can use to rate songs.

Equalizer Window
----------------------------------------­-----------------------------

In the Equalizer Window, select Enable Equalizer to use the equalizer.In this window, you can change various elements of the sound. If you prefer these settings, you can click Save Preset to save them as a preset. To load a preset, click Load Preset.

Unique Features
----------------------------------------­-----------------------------

MediaMonkey has several features that many other players lack. These include MiniPlayer and MicroPlayer modes, as well as the ability to be embedded in the taskbar.

MiniPlayer
----------------------------------------­-----------------------------

To switch to MiniPlayer mode, click the down arrow in the upper right-hand corner, then select Change To MiniPlayer.MediaMonkey now displays as two separate things:
* Player bar

* Playlist

You can move each of them. You can also attach the two to each other. If you prefer, you can remove the playlist, leaving you with just the player bar.

MicroPlayer
----------------------------------------­-----------------------------

1. To switch to MicroPlayer mode, click the down arrow in the upper right-hand corner, then select Change To MicroPlayer.2. The player is now just a tiny, hidden icon in the taskbar. Click the up arrow to view it.3. To set it so the icon is shown in the taskbar, click Customize...4. Scroll down to MediaMonkey, then click the bar next to it. Select Show icon and notifications. Click OK.5. The icon will now show up in the taskbar. Right click on it to get several options, such as Play, Stop, Volume and Now Playing.

Embedded Toolbar
----------------------------------------­-----------------------------

1. Right click on the taskbar. Click Properties.2. Click the Toolbars tab. Select MediaMonkey Player to add it to the taskbar. Click OK.The toolbar is now embedded within the taskbar. It includes basic player functions. It also includes a pop-up window that displays song information and allows you to rate the song.
