Borrowing a huge amount of money to pay for your wedding: in Afghanistan, where marriages are celebrated in a grand style, this is considered normal. A wedding could easily cost 40.000 dollars, and couples spend their entire lives repaying the debt. But family and friends wont complain about such an expensive wedding, or so the couple hopes.

All my life in Peshawar I have lived with Afghans neighbors and attended their weddings. These types of marriages are mostly of Darri speaking Afghans who mostly claimed they from Kabul (though most didn't ) their marriage ceremonies stunning, so west cultured, bride dress expensive, music groups.It amazed me they immigrated and still could afford such lavish marriage but most of all its money badly wasted, I wish we can simply do Nikah and make life easy for all. I guess I can only wish.
