  • Oh come on, this vid and narrative is total crap.

  • What on earth is going on at around 4:50?! London St Pancras IS in the direction he says it is, but I can assure you that not even the Bionic Man would be able to see it, it's a hundred miles away!!

Seriously, St Pancras is 100% NOT visible. Not from there, nor anywhere else in Leicester. Don't believe it for even a second.

  • @coltsuperocean10 Man I must be one of the few Leicester folk who can actually speak the Queen's english in a satisfactory way without the silly accent

  • @mjd775 ...got to agree!! This person has serious problems with his ability to speak in English!! His accent is so strange and weird!! Is he from Eastern Europe like the majority of people in Leicester?

  • @mjd775

Leicester has got an awful lot of every kind of person, including your gay self.

  • Leicester has just very, very bad English; pronunciation is awful and I was told I had the 'Leicester Slur' once, and that got me to speak more clearly, using aithches (h's for the ignorant) and sounding my t's, etc. House, not ''owss''. Hospital, not ospidal.

And Leicester folk use 'aint' as a proper word to mean hasn't, isn't, won't, am not, etc. which are all abreviations anyway!

I left my home town 1978 and travelled everywhere since. Leicester has THE worst 'accent'.

    Goerdie best

  • @bigbugleboy I speak like that always have and always will, i wt school aswell by the way

  • im from leicester , and no we dont all talk like this , some of us went to school and lernt grammer ( i wasnt there when we lernt to spell thought )

  • Many thanks for posting these clips of the city in which I grew up in the 50's & 60's.

It does seem that the (old) Leicester accent, has somehow blended itself with the Eastenders fast-speak, which makes it even more interesting and difficult to understand.

Pity that bird poo-ed on the windscreen at the bottom end of University Road.

If a university bird poo-ed on my windscreen, I wouldn't take her out again - (old joke!!)

Thanks again for the films. Really great.

  • Well having seen my friends cities in Germany, Czech and Poland, I though that I would try and send them all a You Tube link for Leicester.

Having managed to avoid going into the place for a decade, even though I live within a couple of miles, (Family has for 500 years lived in the same place) I can see that it has not improved.

'OOO' To soon go to the eastern block :-)
