This is from the New Orleans Opera's production of Puccini's Il Trittico. Directed by Jay Jackson, The Louisiana Philharmonic orchestra lead by Robert Lyall and the New Orleans Opera chorus sings with Cindy Sadler, Luiz-Ottavio Faria, Bryan Hymel, Gwendolyn Jones, Dennis Jesse, Amy Pfrimmer, David Sadlier, Kenneth Weber, Connor Pitre, Frederick Burchinal, Angela Mannino, Brian Sanford, Casey Candebat, and Brian Bonin.
A "Big Daddy" Gianni Schicchi and a "Yat" girl Lauretta falls way short of what would have JOLTED and would have been CLOSER to the truth, that to have cast a BLACK Gianni Schicchi and his BLACK daughter Lauretta. The naive New Orleans audience wouldn't have fallen all over itself so embarrassingly.

This was good musical but I wish they hadn't been so liberal in changing the libretto.

Yes, it was. BUT... it was not credited for it's use. And it SOMEWHAT fits, due to the Italian heritage shining forth in the film.

Am I wrong or this is also the music of the movie 'Prizzi's honor'?

I saw Gianne Schicchi a couple of weeks ago in Pisa (Italy).
Very nice to see the pictures of the performance in New Orleans. Very nice video!

Thanks for the pics --- it should be made clear however that the recording is a commercial recording by a different cast. It is NOT the New Orleans cast singing.
