Jophus82 , your mistaken. In the case of the berlin patient he was giving a BMT from a donor that had a gentic mutation of the gene CCR5 delta 32. most people have this gene, but in a few the mutation occurs and that gene is not present. The ccr5 gene is basically the "front door" that hiv uses to enter a cd4 cell. Once the patient was giving the BMT, his body kept replicating cd4 cells with the mutation thus not allowing hiv to get into his T-cells once all his infected tcells die off...

Do you have proof that it isn't? I am in an advanced physiology class right now, and my professor says to the best of her knowledge there have been isolated cases of hiv being undetectable, but no proof it was cured.
I correct my comment - AIDS is not coded, HIV is.

You people can be so uneducated and this can lead it to speard. First off If you have AIDS and you are on meds and its delcared undetectable DOES NOT mean you are unable to spread it.
