@nyshortline Part 2 (I needed more space). Long nails didn't die off completely until maybe only 15 years ago. Before that I've seen photos dating back to the 1920's showing women with long, dark-painted nails. I could see where if you're not used to seeing long nails that it'll catch you off-guard and you'll naturally think it's gross. But if you grew up seeing them all the time maybe you might see it differently? Seriously I have always thought of long nails as implying class and feminity.

@PedoWookie Hi I have to share this with you: I remember in 1st Grade there was a girl who had about 1/8" extension past her fingertips. Allowing for the small size of her hands that was LONG. By 4th Grade girls were competing with each other to see who could grow their nails the longest. By 7th Grade several girls had about 1/2" extension, and many more had a little less. By the time I graduated high school in 1982 more than half the girls had at least nails showing past their fingertips.
