West Of Eden playing an Untitled Song about 9/11 at the Zodiac Sessions open mic night, Dublin, Ireland.
WEST OF EDEN
Allow me to introduce to you those behind the music of West of Eden. In the right corner is Kenn Davis weighing in as a singer songwriter from Tinahely in county Wicklow. (Wouldn't you know I'm a former boxer). And in the left is Dublin born singer, Cindy O' Keeffe (who by the way wasn't a boxer but in fact was a skater). Anyway, originally having met in Ballyfermot's music college the duo has since been crafting "a fresh and unique sound", according to TV3 Ireland AM. Their debut EP 'Everyday Thing' which was recorded and co-produced by Karl Odlum (The Frames, Kila, Fionn Regan, etc) was released in August of this year and within 2 weeks of its release reached no. 4 in the Irish download charts. An invitation from TV3's Ireland AM soon followed and we skipped the life fandango, turned cartwheels across the floor and sang our hearts out on the telly. Producer of the show, Victoria O' Brien then said that the band offers "something brand new in Irish talent and that they will go very far". We hope she's psychic! InDublin magazine writes that "this folksy outfit are launching a major charm offensive on our lugs this week. Cindy O' Keeffe's voice conjures up notions of the Beautiful South, while the shuffling drums, cellos and guitar are reminiscent of Herman Dune. Toe-tapping sensibilities pervade this excellently produced 3 track EP, allowing West of Eden to meander through their sunny melodies at their leisure. Expect to hear more of them". Yeah, so there! :) And then Newstalk FM's producer was also very complimentary quoting that the pair are "a refreshing duo with real talent and a genuine flair for harmony and their strengths are great lyrics and subtle music". We're thinking if this continues we just might have to widen the door! he he....But then didn't Newstalk's Culture Shock Fionn Davenport have to go and say that West of Eden's "music is an extraordinary blend of melodic line and harmony and that they are Ireland's answer to a Beautiful South". Well, we'll never get out the door now :) ...................
