The trailer which you can see here was made two years ago to help with the funding of a full-length documentary on Gypsy emigration from Hungary. I have recently completed the film which is now called "Gypsy Dreams" and it follows two years in the life of one Gypsy family who immigrated from Hungary to Bolton, England. I hope that some of the festivals might pick it up and, perhaps, some TV companies also, especially in Britain. I'll keep you posted.

I am hungarian. I am not gypsi. I live in UK for 2 and half year. And I am happy. When I was in Hungary I was sad. I like UK. And I don't like hungary.

Gypsies emigrated from India, many of them were taken by mongol tribes (huns - tatars) as slaves. Some of them managed to escape and settled in Europe. Other came "thanks" to wars started by muslims centuries ago. After a while more waves camed. Some of them were also used as slaves on european countries, for a little while. The thing is that none of them wants to work or go to school. Only sleep, stealing, rubbering people and houses as well, killings, rape etc. Don't know who can educate them!

1-they were slaves , indeed , but not all of them. only those who could not pay taxes . they sold themselves to the landlords. local romanian peasant had a similar situation , those who did not own land.

2- gypsies were never imported. !!!! that happened to african slaves. gypsies were nomads , scattered , refused settlement. some had valuable skills (metal workers ) .

3 slavery was a bad thing but helped them live and multiply. western europe hunted them.

@balkanmix the reason eastern Europe has so many gypsies is because they were used as slaves by the Eastern Romans (Byzantines). They imported them from Indian lands. After the byzantine empire fell, the gypsies were free to roam about in Europe.
