Another clip I've managed to archive from old vhs video.

This time it's Michael Praed on the ITV Saturday morning kid's tv show called "What's Up Doc?". It was recorded in 1995 when Michael was playing Marty James in the BBC show called "Crown Prosecutor". That show ran for 10 half hour episodes and the producer was Esta Charkham - a link to Robin - she was the casting director on Robin of Sherwood.

In the phone in it's interesting that he is asked if he would consider doing any more Robin's. He say's that he and the cast would love to - but alas, it never came to anything. What a shame :(

I do remember at the time of watching the interview, that it was really exciting to hear that the show could be brought back somehow - it was just what I and many Robin fans wanted to hear! Wonder what it would've been like..........?

Hope that Robin fans enjoy this clip.

  • The BBC's 'Robin Hood' simply showed just how good Robin of Sherwood was! 25 years on, and it is still by far the best interpretation of the legend, even if you include the 'blonde' episodes :-)

Its a shame Michael Praed didnt move on to the bigger roles people expected, he was genuinely tipped as the next James Bond at one point.

Hadnt seen this interview before, so huge thanks for sharing.

  • Michael is the most handsome man I´ve ever seen!

  • I think Micheal Praed should have stayed on the series. If so the series would have gained fame and Micheal would have a lot of options.

  • most of the sri lankans are michael praid fans, because time to time they broadcasting the drama. i think more than ten times, and the finally people were too sad to watch that robin dies and they were not much happy with second robin(robert) role, the most handsome guy, even today he got old still looking cute,

  • I used to love living in Sherwood until I took an arrow in the knee.

  • "meaty part"....*snigger*...

  • i always watch the episode when i was a little kid on the german tv!!including the blond robin

does anyone knows why they switcht?? blond-brunett robin??

  • comes across as a really nice guy both here and when acting as Robin

  • @slewisedwards yea ROS was approx 300 times better than that newer Robin Hood series, funny how programme making has gone downhill in some ways.

  • @alphabetaxenonzzzcat This is very true. Robin of Sherwood with Michael playing the lead was by far, the best version of Robin Hood ever created. The music, the acting and the storylines were all superb. It rightly deserves to be held in very high regard, even to this day. Very special TV from a very special era. The recent BBC offering was a very bad politically correct joke and was totally laughable.

  • Robin of Sherwood was superb. The best telling of the Robin Hood story ever made! Don't even mention the crappy BBC re-make!

Unfortunately it was made when ITV(namely HTV) were actually good, not the Jordan and Peter Andre rubbish they pump out now!!!!

  • Mmm Jenny Powell.
