  • what's the point of having this station? it's just one tiny platform.

  • It's to serve the nearby hiking trailheads, so people can come up from the city and hike on weekends without having to drive

  • so which car do they have to be on? the platform can only hold one car

  • My guess is that when they let the conductor know they want to get off there, he tells the engineer where to stop, or tells them which car to be in.

  • well then they need to know well in advance since these trains need a good distance to stop

  • Yes, you're supposed to let the conductor know at the previous station (Cold Spring) on the way up. On the way down, they come through slow on weekend afternoons.

  • flag stop? no, it is a scheduled stop for some trains

  • It was taken from the stairs down to the ballast near the platform (you can see them near the end).
