March 2006: the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, visits an aid project run by the Episcopal Church of Sudan. A year after the peace was signed, refugees wanting to return to their homelands which were devastated by civil war in Southern Sudan still don't have the food in place that would let them survive. The World Food Programme supplies are distributed by the local Anglican Church - in so many areas the only local organisation surviving - so that communities have a chance of re-establishing themselves.
God bless south Sudan!
