I was recently accepted as a transfer student to a major university after my third attempt and can now totally relate to what Rudy was feeling. I was on my doorstep and just grabbed the mail. Knowing that a big thick packet was good and that a letter was bad, I was a little confused by a small packet. I opened it and found the letter of acceptance. I somehow ended up chasing the rest of the mail around my lawn because it was relatively windy, lol. Best yardwork ever :)

It gets emotional just to watch this at YouTube. When I heard that Sean Astin had been cast as Samwise Gamgee, I went back in my mind to this scene from RUDY and Sean's portrayal of this character who, with odds stacked against him, refuses to give up and thought, "Yes... yes! That's a fine choice!" Just as important to this scene, I feel, is the very moving orchestral score by the late great Jerry Goldsmith. Movie magic.
