Today, I give you an update on how the water fast is going (I'm almost there!) as well as let Shea share her experiences too.

She's not having as nice of a time as I am.

She also has some great insights about cravings... since that seems to be one of our biggest issues.

  • oh i totally surf food porn on the web on fasts or juice cleanses. i also go thru my recipe books and plan what dishes im gonna eat wehn i can eat normally again - i dont get to most of them, i pan like, 50 meals. im fasting now and totally watching the travel channel and food channel. I DONT EVEN EAT TOHSE FOODS! Im vegan.

  • I did a 7 day raw retreat before. Found it very beneficial that they had workshops, massage, yoga etc during the day to stay occupied.

  • If I feel like sweet I eat sweet. a date usually or tahini and honey. I only feel like that once in a while, so its not a huge problem.

  • your skin is an organ and it removes toxins for you. ie. sweat etc. acne is a sign of detox.

  • I keep treats for the weekend, so then if I have a craving during the week I can plan out a healthy way to indulge it. For instance, if I have a chocolate craving I plan on making banana-carob-coconut milk ice cream on the weekend. Also, then I know that if I have a craving during the week I just have to suck it up and deal with it, but on the weekend I can get it out of my system. I find this works better than always depriving myself, because stress is unhealthy too!!

  • To avoid cravings, I watch videos on youtube of people that inspire me. When you do your fast, do you not take in any electrolytes? How about for the people there who do 20+ day fasts, don;'t they take in electrolytes?

    I did a one day fast once and the next day I was really dizzy and so I drank some lemon juice with a little salt in it and felt much better. I think it was because of imbalanced electrolytes, but I'm not sure.

  • like Shea, i was cold all the time when i did raw vegan, if she's been at it for 10 years and still have issues, maybe the diet is not providing everything she needs. i used to be very emotional too and have a lot of anxiety. my new diet keeps my emotion more balanced and i don't get cravings between meal. only once in a while and it's probably when my body is attacking more of the candida. veggies only is mainly a carb diet and to clear candida you need to avoid carbs.
