http://www.thearlingtonhomeinspectors.com It is always important to have a home inspection performed on new construction. During this home inspection performed by A-Action Home Inspection Group our inspector discovered a significant defect with a fireplace at this new construction inspection in Keller, Texas.
At the beginning of this inspection everything seemed to be in good order on the surface. After entering the attic area, we discovered the attic insulation to be too close to the chimney flue. This can cause condensation to occur and rust out the flue over time.
During the inspection from the roof level, it was discovered that the flue termination spark arrestor was missing. This would prevent the fireplace from properly drawing the smoke from the firebox and would allow for rain water to pour into the interior firebox.
The short videos represent a very small portion of common defects we find every day.
