Modest Mouse - Gravity Rides Everything - San Francisco, Live, Outside Lands Festival Sunday 8-30-09 HD, 2nd row, Polo Fields at Golden Gate Park. Some guy behind me kept requesting 'Float On' after each song, but the band never obliged him. Usually, that song is played in the Encore, but since this was just a 1-hour show, there was no Encore, unfortunately.

Other highlights include:

The weather was actually a bit chilly on Sunday, compared to Friday when it was hot, and especially hot near the ultra-crowded front row section where I was. Later that day, when Jack Black and Tenacious D performed, the fog rolled in with a light cool breeze. At first, I thought it was stage smoke effects because they went very well with the colored lighting, but nope, heavy fog. What San Francisco is famous for, I guess..

Speaking of which, at the end of the Tenacious D concert, Jack Black threw his pants into the crowd, which landed behind me and there was a huge tug of war in the audience for those jeans which lasted ~10 minutes. It reminded me of Friday, when Pearl Jam's Matt Cameron threw one of his drumsticks near me, which I grabbed it out of the air with one hand, but so did about 5 other people. Jack Black also threw 'The Pick of Destiny' into the crowd just to the left of me. M.I.A. also sung into the crowd in our section but did not do the same on the other side.

In short, for future festivals... I guess the right side of the stage is where to be!

  • I was only paces behind you!

  • Haha awesome, i'm the brown haired guy to the left of the bald guy. This show blew my mind, i just wish they played a couple more of their older songs. I also think they deserved a longer set. But oh well, still amazing.

  • i like your hat

  • yeah I was kinda glad that they didn't play float on. But I was kinda bummed that they didn't play missed the boat. Overall amazing show though

  • I was one of the many on the outside of Outside Lands, attempting to watch from trees and dance around the security guards to try and hop the fence. I heard their whole set though - AMAZING. And is anyone else really happy that they didn't play Float On? I am. That song is ridiculously over played and is not nearly up in the ranking with MM's best songs.

  • I saw Modest Mouse the night before this in Anaheim. They were great.
