No.1 Greatest Finals Performances(NBA.com)

Magic Johnson started at center (1980 NBA Finals G6)- NBA.com

Magic Johnson - 42 points, 15 rebounds, 7 assists in series-clinching Game 6(1980 NBA Finals), in place of injured Kareem

In one game, a 20-year-old rookie named Magic Johnson went from precocious to prodigious. With six-time NBA MVP Kareem Abdul-Jabbar out with a severe ankle sprain, Magic started at center and turned in the best performance ever in an NBA Finals game -- 42 points, 15 boards, seven assists -- on the road, no less -- as the Lakers won their first of five NBA titles in the '80s.

  • Greatest rookie season ever

  • What an incredible performance by my favorite basketball player of all time. What rookie in modern time could possibly have the maturity to play all 5 positions in the finals, in a game 6 for the championship, on a road game?

  • @PacManFan818 Hey PacMan i don't want to argue but...you do have a point

  • @bootiack you are hilarious for trolling a series that happened over 30 years ago. FT attempts shows how much a team is driving to the basket or getting high % shots. But since you want to know, they shot THE SAME EXACT NUMBER OF FT's that whole series. LA 117/144 PHILLY 108/144

  • @jesuisdavid1 Well yeah anyone can play center, it just depends if you can hold your own. Rodman was also a 6'6 guy who can play center, but to play like that you need a whole different style of playing and mental view of the game. Jordan is great, but no way he can play center. He is not built like a center. Rodman is a rare case. Landry (use to be with rockets) is 6'9, the same height as magic

  • @PacManFan818 the big thing about that draft year, is that the team that had the no. 1 pick wanted a center, that's why mj went 3rd overall, everyone said they should have gotten jordan for center. jordan can play all 5 positions, this dude on Rockets is only 6 6 and he's diong a great job......so it's possible. just would be harder?

  • @jesuisdavid1 Jordan wouldn't be able to play center. He's not big enough

  • @mightydesign Michael JOrdan?
