This is why Cliff Michelmore should be recognised as a great broadcaster. Authoritative and amusing in equal measure.

  • He's now 88 and surfing the web! Legend!

  • He looked very spry when he linked 'The Pound in Your Pocket' on BBC Parliament a while back. Do send him my very fondest.

  • ok this is going to make me sound like a dumb yank, but ever since i saw benny hill do a parody of mr. michelmore, i have been a fan. but i'm pretty much a fan of all things british. i digress, is there any way to find the show "holiday" on dvd?

  • @nils9989 I found out since then! It was 'Heartsong' by Gordon Giltrap that I was looking for. Found it on iTunes. x

  • @321wowzer Grandpa said - Here comes the sun - beatles! thankyou

or it may be - The Voyager' by Paul Hardcastle

  • Holiday had three themes in the 70s: The Walrus and the Carptenter by Syd Dale, Equinoxe Part One by Jean-Michel Jarre, and Heartsong by Gordon Giltrap. Might be one of those...they're all on iTunes / Amazon for download.

  • I agree Cliff Michelmore is a broadcasting legend. His coverage of the Aberfan disaster was outstanding.

  • Oh, and another thing: Does he Twitter as well???

  • My husband and I were just discussing TV personalities from our childhood, wasn't sure if he was still with us. Glad to know that he is,so much has changed, nice to see that part of the old days are still with us. God bless him.

  • His live broadcast from Aberfan in 1966 was one of the most brilliant, sensitive, perfecly judged moments in TV history. God bless him, best wishes from South Wales.
