This project requires only three things, freezer, water, and patience. Put the bottle of water (Fiji works best) in the freezer for around 2 hours for best results and then you can do many things from there. You can hit the bottle, you can pour it out, you can add snow to it, or any other way to disturb the purification in the bottle you can think of.

@DrankenBustards water can most definitely freeze on its own at 0 C, it just has to have a certain amount of energy removed called the heat of fusion look it up..

For those people saying it's Sodium Acetate; shut up. Liquids that get below the freezing point need something to crystallize on; normal water has impurities in it that allow it to do so. However, fiji water is 100% pure water; therefore, it can't freeze on it's own at 0 C. That, coupled with the fact that the water can't freeze onto the plastic that the bottles are made of, lets water fall below freezing and stay liquid. Agitating the molecules sort of 'revives' them into the solid state.
