http://www.homepro-inspection.com. Rochester MN Home Inspection Reveals Improper Exterior Wiring. I come across this defect quite frequently at older homes with small detached garages. Homeowners will simply string an electrical wire, typically not exterior rated, from the house to the garage. Back when the home and garage were built, this is just how they did it. The existing wire has been replaced, but the homeowner missed the opportunity to make it right. there shouls be exterior rated junction boxes, exterior rated wiring, and a support wire. A better solution would be to do underground with the wiring. I recommended in my inspection report that the homeowner have an electricion properly upgrade the electrical to the garage. If you enjoyed my home inspectors video, and would like to see more like it, please leave a comment.
