This video shows how simple it is to remove valve spring retainers on a 3000GT with a DOHC V6 using a BluePoint GA317 remover and installer tool. The installer side of this tool has a spring loaded tapered tip narrow enough to fit in between the keepers to hold them apart while pushing them down with the valve spring. Other tools of similar design are too big ( ex Lisle 36200) to fit in between the keepers to keep them spread apart upon installing. The installation portion is in a separate video.

  • Use the installer part of the tool to put everything back together. I have a second video showing just how easy it is to do using the very same tool you used to take everything apart.

  • Where did you get that tool? what else did you change?

  • Blue Point tools can be purchased at any Snap On too jobber. I replaced the spark plugs, cam plugs, cam seals, valve cover gaskets, Tbelt and h2o pump while i was in there.
