A finished fully working Squirt PS4 with a liner locking blade. I posted a prototype of this a little while back, here's the "real" one. More info: http://andreasodegard.com/2010/10/leatherman-squirt-ps4-liner-lock/

  • you just got yourself a new subscriber. i love the videos and the ingenuity. keep up the great work.

  • @prometheus19799791 thanks, glad you like them!

  • Do you think it would be possible to create a one-handed knife opening mechanism to go along with the liner lock you've created for the PS4? These two features (and a can opener perhaps) would make the PS4 a perfect pocket multitool in my opinion.

  • @chronodyne Sure, that wouldn't be an issue. I did make another tiny leather OHO, both with a thumb hole and a thumb stud.

  • I just discovered your Leatherman mods, and I have to say, you're really tempting me into buying myself some leathermans! I'm planning on getting a PS4 or a style CS for EDC, which one would you recommend for a hobbyist, assuming that your mods were done on them?

  • @misterthistlethwaite Style CS, or the new model with pliers instead of scissors. The reason is that the PS4 no longer comes with pivots but rather rivets, making it practically unmoddable

  • Well done, very smart. It seems simple when somebody else thinks of it. I just subscribed

  • @Cptnodegard ah, that's kind of disappointing. The Style CS it is then, thanks!

  • @Cptnodegard thank you very much for your reply! :-) I think I lack the crafting skills to create a detend ball mechanism, but I think I'll try to "angle" the liner so that it will slip off the blade. It'll be a try-and-error-thing, but I'll give it a shot. :-) Thanks again!

  • @Schmidt54 I expect it would be difficult to control how much force you need to apply with that method, but it's the easiest solution. However, there might be a better way, though more difficult. If you click the link in the description you'll see that my added liner lock part is a complete layer that also attaches under the knife, on the same pivot. Depending on the knife, it might be possible to make an extra layer part that has the slipjoint ball, and make a groove in the knife to fit...
