A subtle humorous element is that the woodpecker gives instructions using verbs that begin with the prefix "re" for every action that the singer should perform with his finger: REmove, REplace, REciprocate ect ect. Finally after the finger has been inside the hole for some time the woodpecker desires the singer to smell his own finger and then describes the odor for the audience: "REvolting!"

Some humorous elements are obviously that the woodpecker's hole is not actually referring to a hole in a tree, and that the woodpecker although initially resistant quickly warms up and begins to welcome and guide the finger's penetration. This subscribes to the generally held male assumption that fairer rejections will subsist if the fair resistor actually experiences some of the pleasure that awaits. Also the term "woodpecker" is itself funny if you think about it while drunk.

The first person singer is taking liberty with a woodpecker's personal space via the woodpecker's "hole": obstentiously a tree hole that the woodpecker resides in. The singer places his finger inside the woodpecker's hole and is initially rebuffed by the woodpecker indignantly who then proceeds to direct the singer to place his finger back in the hole and manipulate it according to the woodpecker's instructions.

I can try: The woodpecker song is a humorous ditty intended to be song by grown drunk men, and therefore, ribald but only in double speak.
