Russel is giant from the toxic waste in the ocean, so he became mutated. and yes, the boogeyman's deal with murdoc was to gas 2D so he could be kept in a room under the island, and other miscellaneous things.

So... let me see if I can get this straight... there's a Boogeyman, chasing Murdoc, whom is on Plastic beach, and was apparently one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse, who made a deal with Murdoc in the past, he jumps off the island when cyborg-Noodle shoots at him, before he climbs onto a ghost ship and summons a bunch of dead American WW!! pilots and navy crew, along with Moby Dick to attack them, when they're saved by Russel, whom is now a giant for some reason. Right?

Actually, Damon Albarn (Music Creator) stated that he and Co-Creator Jamie Hewlett are just in a slight despute. He is shoving away all of the rumors of the end of Gorilaz. He just states to see more after this little dispute is over. Read about it here:
