Mina & Ella - Summertime - Mina50

Mina, 1961, e Ella,1968,cantano "Summertime" brano tratto dall'opera "Porgy and Bess" del 1935. Gershwin cominciò a comporre la canzone nel dicembre 1933, nell'intento di creare uno spiritual nello stile della musica folk afroamericana del periodo. La canzone è un popolare standard jazz interpretato da moltissimi cantanti: Ella Fitzgerald e Louis Armstrong, Ray Charles, Billie Holiday , Janis Joplin... .
Mina ha inciso "Summertime" nel novembre 1961 su un 45 giri con sul lato B "Tu sei mio".

ella è inarrivabile, magica. Mina tra le cantanti bianche più recenti è l'unica che ha fatto interpretazioni stupende come questa, che non hanno eguali.

Ella non è paragonabile a nessuno! neanche a se stessa dato che si superava esibizione dopo esibizione,quando pensavi che avesse raggiunto il massimo,nell'esibizione successiva ti lasciava a bocca aperta! grandissima!

I love Mina, she is the greatest. I love her voice so much, and am always amazed by it. But I still think that this belongs to Ella. Her deep notes are the best, and the high ones are impressive too. Most of all, English was her first language, and maybe she could also relate better to the song. Mina, I think, sings this like a neapolitan song. They are not the same! I always thought that Mina in English, with her trademark 'cremonesi' vowels, doesn't sound right. Just an opinion!

Veramente pare che fu Sara Vaughan a fare quella dichiarazione; Ella invece, dopo aver ascoltato l'esecuzione di "Brava" da parte di Mina, in un telegramma le scrisse: "Brava Brava Brava".
