  • Orca captivity today is much better than it was back in the 60's & 70's.

Out of 42 captive orcas, only 13 were taken from the wild. And the youngest wild whale, Kshamenk has no chance in the wild. Unless someone is willing to spend 5 million dollars on him. That money is better off going to MFA. Because common sence...factory farms are much worse than orca captivity. And, Kshamenk is a transient and hes been living off of fish for 16 years. The best for him would be to send him to Nagoya aq

  • Oh boo hoo. Seeing them in captivity is not bad at all. Captivity you get more upclose with the animals. Wild orcas shouldnt have to be bothered by us humans and have the whale watching boats pollute the ocean. The most you can see in a whale watching trip is a whales dorsal. -from a mile away. :/ Kids will get bored. The only thing entertaining them is maybe the wind and the boats slow speed. In captvity, they can see orcas upclose at shamu close up as educators tell them about the whales.

  • Captivitiy for Orcas is very sad an cruel, heartbreaking;((((

  • Bingo is different, he is one of the biggest whales in captivity and he does waterworks. Not many adult males do water works

  • @hawaiianpony

And its not just orcas, any animal.*

  • @hawaiianpony

Moving an older orca isn't the best thing to do. It's easier to have a younger animal adapt than an older. Besides, a killer whale his age has never been moved before. It's just not safe, and he wouldn't like it. Leaving the orcas, and trainers he knows..just to start life all over again. Younger animals adapt better.

  • @RingneckDoveFan I would be so happy if they would move him to Nagoya but thats kinda a HUGE move for him....even SeaWorld would be nice, anywhere besides where he is...

  • That is very true. It's not like they live in an empty tank their whole life. I'm pretty sure they have a more realistic living space for them as well.

  • Marine parks may have their defenders - but they have no reasonable defence.-Jerye Mooney

  • Captivity is wrong- Full stop. They wernt made to be cooped up in tanks for our entertainment. They were fine for thgose hundreds of thousands of years until the human race went and ruined it all. Humans are the cruelest of any species on earth =/
