  • I tried this and it does work, the pain is that the density of the metal makes it labor intensive. I tried my dremel with a mill bit and had to keep it oiled. Actually small files worked a lot better. Since a commercial replacement is so cheap [$10] it is not really worth the time. Although I do recommend folks doing at least one for FYI purposes. I purchased one recently and traced it for posterity to use as a template. email me and I'll send it via .pdf file.

  • @BerettaM9USAF practice makes perfect! ;-)

  • and that is located in the tripper group correct? I think I know the spring. It is not super springy. when I pop out the top pin in the trigger group, it doesn't even pop up ( I don't even have to push it in with my thumbnail to stick the pin back in ) is that what your talking about ?

  • @ChromeArty That is your problem. It may be defective or installed incorrectly. It is not as strong as a coil spring but if you install correctly it should pop up when you pull the pin on the ejector lever. That spring provides tension on the bolt release plate.

  • what does this do to your gun?

  • I'm ordering a Timney drop-in replacement. Do you know if the Timney's require the same procedure? If so, will the Timney disassemble the same way? Thank you.

  • Took a dremel with a carbide bit and it took less then 30 seconds to round it out. I made a common mistake and didn't check to see if the spring rested on the bolt lock/release so I had to take it apart again but after that it was smooth sailing (and bolt closing).

  • just did it!! works greate!! Tnx...

  • @BerettaM9USAF I have done this mod on all of my 10/22's and I have been using a chainsaw sharpening grinder for the Dremel (the long cylindrical grinder) and I can knock them out in just a couple minutes now. I'd give that a try i you already have the Dremel since it is only about 5 bucks for a 3 pack of grinding bits.

  • sweet! thanks man! It was the first time I took the trigger group apart, and it was like that already. so I'm going to try and fix it.... right now! thanks for your help bro.
