How did yourself weld the rear end up ?I have heard that the axle tubes are thinner than an average tube on an 8.8. Rear end.?

my friend has an 86 thats tubed out. All he did was swapped the leaf springs and put them on the inside of the frame and is also running the same hooser pro street radials then extended the wheel tubes so it has that factory pro street look lol. We just put a sb 400 in it with a crager 4-71 blower. I'll get some pics of it soon and hopefully a vid of it. Nice ass truck man!

Preciate the advice, I went with a Chevy 12 bolt which I had cut down to 47 inches. It has a spool with 5.12 gears and Mark William axles. All I have to do now is tub the bed, I just don't lime all fhe wheel tubs I see for sale. I like your, they look real solid unlike all the ones I see.

@CoreyHardemon i dont like the ones you can buy either. me and my dad fab these up in the back yard. all it costed was 10.00 in scrap steel, and about a day in fabing. and they are solid, im about 200 lbs and i can sit on them and they dont bend.

no you will haft to cut it down. the easiest way i can tell you is i cut off 2 3/4 off the pass side, and 7'' out off the drivers side. because the explorer rear end is off set 3'' to the pass side. the axle tube on the pass side was 17'' before i cut it, it is now 14 1/4''. the driver side axle tube was 20'', and after i cut it was 13''. the over all lenght of the explorer rear end is 43 1/4'' to mounting flange to mounting flange. hope this helps. gm 10 bolt measurements could be different.

Ok I see what your saying, but as far as the length of the rear end.... Is it pretty much the stock length or will I need to cut my rear end to shorten it.

@CoreyHardemon
the length of the rear end is 43 1/4'' to the mounting flanges that hold the backing plate on.

Did you use a stock rear end on this truck and if so how wide are the wheels. Just wondering because im getting ready to do my truck.

@CoreyHardemon
not stock. the rear end came out of a 98 ford explorer. went with that rear end because it came factory with 31 spline axles and posi trac. and dics brakes. the rims is 15x14 with 4'' backspace. the tires are 31x18.50 hooser pro street radials. also i sent the factory axles off to get cut and resplind.
