My thoughts on the blackouts of several prominent websites today over the proposed SOPA Bill and the hypocrisy of these actions. While I agree with the sentiment, I believe the proper way to handle this is to INFORM and EDUCATE, not treat people like they're morons and say "We'll show them what the internet will look like if this happens by taking our ball and going home for a day", that's insulting to the people who visit those websites and shows a lack of proper leadership and responsibility. I don't need Wikipedia or Reddit or anyone else to slap me upside the head and call me an idiot by blocking access to their site to tell me SOPA and PIPA are a bad idea but providing links at the top of the pages of these websites to articles that inform would have done a LOT MORE. If you treat people like ignorant morons, they'll act like it.
