  • Do you think fx 1000 would be better performer in low light than canon xh-a1?, at the same price, what should I choose?

  • A lot comes down to personal preferences. The primary difference in imaging being the CCDs on the A1 versus the CMOS sensors on the FX1K. In a comparison on camcorderinfo(dot)com of the H1A (the A1 is supposed to have the same video performance) against the FX1K, low-light noise was virtually identical; the H1A was slightly higher in low-light color accuracy. In low-light sensitivity, the H1A was better, but in overall video resolution the FX1K crushed the H1A. Check out the site for details.

  • Not bad...need to see it with the camera moving...see how the cmos reacts. Another good low light test would be with traffic at night. There you have movement, and large amounts of contrasting light.

BTW...where is that building in this vid.?

  • Thanks Jason. The low-light test #1 that I have posted has some minimal motion towards the end of the clip. I just posted low-light test #4 that has a bunch of traffic at night. So you can check those out, the last part is even hand-held. The CMOS sensors on the FX1000 don't have the rolling shutter/skewing problem at all. I'll be doing more low-light tests tonight. The building is 'The Plaza on Brickell', a condo at 851 Bickell Avenue, just south of downtown Miami.

  • Nice HD Camera you got there!

  • Thanks Nathan... it should make for some really nice chase video going forward.

I well put it desktop wallpaper

  • Still thinking, thanks for your reference, hard to decide, both have incredible quality to low budget producer, but I believe that CMOS has come to eliminate CCD, and that´s something I do not understend very well in Canon camcorders, you got HV40 with 1/3" CMOS sensor, and the rest are CCDs, I still don´t get it, why Canon does not produce XH-A1 with CMOS sensors? meanwhile, Canon 5D MKII has an amazing low light CMOS full frame. Thanks
