Solid state, phase-locked induction heater feat. M6 (non-magnetic) steel bolt and fuse.

First test with mains (+3 kW) and tests with DC power supply with small power (~ 140 W). Scope shows lo-side driver voltage and voltage at celem power cap.

My first diy ih: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W47rx5jSt7g Max measured temp 2150 C with under 1 kW. It is time to break some records.

  • this is a great device.

I will pour out al metal rings. I need a furnace.

can you send me a wiring diagram.

or a description as I can reconstruct the device.

so I can build me a small furnace.

    that would be very nice.

    thank you

    ralph

  • @sircoolgandalf

Direct heating of Al is pretty hard with copper inductor. I think you should use molybdenum/tantalum/tungsten crucible or similiar heating element (radiator) with boron nitride or alumina crusible inside it.

You can find almost similiar schema by googling "tonskulus IH".

  • great work... do you have water running in the copper pipes? or are they soild

  • @mrFishball1992

Yes it is wound with copper capillary pipe. OD is 3,3 mm and inner diameter 0,75 mm. The heater has only one cooling circuit through IGBTs, impedance matching choke, resonant capacitor and work coil. Water pressure is 9 bar in the final setup. If you want more power I recommend to use tube with bigger diameter. Water gets over 70 deg. celsius with +2 kW.

  • hyvä biisi! ja hätäsesti tuo lämpes tuollon ekalla kerralla =)

  • @voxpko

Toi biisi on ihan youtuben audioswapista. Osuu yleensä kohdalleen kun laittaa hakuun vaan jonkun teemaan sopivan sanan. :)

  • Do you have the scope on an isolation transformer? An isolation transformer for the circuit would have to be huge.

  • I always thought these as kind of a myth and couldn't possibly work, but I just now decided to connect a coil up to my ZVS driver in place of a flyback, then place something in the coil and what do you know? Anything metal placed within the coil does indeed get hot, much hotter than the coil gets so something is at work there.

  • Good work and very well buildt i like!

  • Got a schematic for this?
