@darkblueangel1956 Well everyone is entitled to their opinion...so you stick with Hamelin and Arrau, I'll stick with Alicia...this is art, not a contest

@darkblueangel1956: Well I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I couldn't disagree with you more...this isn't a contest...so you stick with Hamelin and Arrau...I'll stick with Alicia

@Malcolm64 It is a modern style, this of Hamelin, and then it is also expressive and persuasive, with personal style. Also, what you think about, even today, after so many years, many pianists sound like Alicia? Do you really think it would be fair? And even Claudio Arraud play better than Alicia de Larrocha, also much better ! Sorry for my frankness.

Hamelin may be a great pianist, but I'm sorry, he doesn't even begin to match Alicia de Larrocha's interpretive flair for this music (in her prime)...
What I hear in this first piece is what I hear throughout his playing of the entire cycle: it's impossibly mannered with wayward use of rubato and of course rhythmic discipline is what makes De Larrocha's approach so special.
Of course, his technical command is awesome...of that there is no question...

I love albeniz! He never does the same thing in any two pieces. I feel honored that his Suite de Espanol is for the guitar, but will never match up to Albeniz played on the piano.

WOW!!!!!!!!Super!!!!thx!
these 12 pieces grouped into 4 notebooks are the top masterpieces by Isaac Albéniz and one of the most important works that any pianist should have, they were composed between 1905-1909 and they're a synthesis of several musical approaches by the spanish author
