From the archives... Philadelphia, PA, December 26, 1970.
2 Out of 3 Falls:
Gorilla Monsoon & US Champion Pedro Morales (challengers)
VS
"The Mongols" Bepo Mongol & Geto Mongol (WWWF international tag team champions)

I really wish they had left the original audio instead...

(fyi, Bepo Mongol later became Nikolai Volkoff)

  • PanteraMark you made a mistake. One of the Mongols if you take a good look later became Nikoli Volkoff. Bill Eadie always wore a mask or face paint, he never became a Mongol.

  • @mrtherock60 yes, Bill Eadie was once a mongol, "Bolo" Mongol. But not in (W)WWF.

  • Didn't Geto Mongol become the Masked Superstar and then Ax of Demolition?

  • @PanteraMark I'm pretty sure that Geto Mongol trained Masked Superstar aka Ax aka Bill Eadie, and Eadie wrestled as a different Mongol, "Bolo".

  • The Mongols were one of Lou Albano's first tag teams to win the belt.. Can you name the first of Albano's teams to win the belt?

  • @quincy5757 i could easily be wrong, but as far as i know, The Mongols were the first team that Albano managed to win the belts (1970). But it was the WWWF International Titles, not the WWWF World Tag Team titles. I guess the first WWWF Tag Team belts Albano actually won was as The Sicilians, with him as a wrestler partnered with Tony Altimore. But those were the WWWF United States Tag Team belts (in 1967). International, World, U.S., it's all very confusing...

  • @maddogwrestlingfan rene goulet and gotch defearted graham and tyler and then sicluna and king came after and lost the titles to strongbow and sonny king. and you are correct sir, because you are the maddogwrestling fan!

  • @dontchadaremissit As usual, my friend, you are correct. The Mongols were Albano's first tag champs as manager (International tag champs). He managed the first ever WWWF World tag champs (Tyler & Graham) and the third tag champs as well (Curtis & Scicluna).

  • I hope that Geto Mongol (Newton Tattrie) gets in the WWE Hall of Fame in the future. Bepo would really become famous as Nicolai Volkoff.

  • @quincy5757 Luke Graham and Tarzan Tyler !!!!

  • @quincy5757

The first tag team of Albano I beleive was King Curtis and Baron Sicluna

  • @outbackdakota1 Gorilla was a talented athlete. Was the national runner-up at the NCAA championships in college. Also a top thrower for track.

  • @thanhbites

    Yes.

  • thankyou so much for posting. as a child these guys looked so faersome

  • This match is available on wwf coliseum video "Tag Team Championship"

  • Bepo is that nikoli volkoff ?

  • I love the drop down microphone!

  • imagine working with 2 greats tag team partner,s. first nikoli volkoff and then the masked superstar.

  • @outbackdakota1 you be surprised when he first came up . can do 30 pullups at 300lbs. how many you know can do that?

  • Geeto Mongol trained Bill Eadie and broke him into the business. He became Bolo Mongol after Beppo split for the AWA.

  • WOW! I read about the results for this match many many years ago and now I get to see it! Thanks!

  • @deuceoo The situation with Thesz was a few months before the match with Bruno, and was for the NWA belt. McMahon and Mondt wanted to keep the belt on Rogers, so they broke from the NWA and formed the WWWF using promoters and arenas that were part of their Capitol Wrestling promotion. Rogers allegedly had a heart attack shortly after that, and so Bruno had to have a very short match with Rogers because of it.

  • @rockytheyorky Well, in truth the IWA Mongols were Geeto from this version (Newton Hattice) and Bill Eadie as Bolo (yes, the same Bill Eadie that was the Masked Superstar and Axe from Demolition). Beppo (aka Nikolai Volkoff) went to AWA and wrestled there as Boris Brezhnikov, then came back to WWWF in 1974 and worked as Nikolai Volkoff (Volkoff's real name is Josip Peruzovic).
