Vintage Mid Century Phoenix Architecture - progressive house of worship design
Needs: City, State & National registry listing, protection asap.
The building is structurally sound, many of the original details are in great condition. The block work is completely intact. The angled facia details are all exactly how they were in 1955. The minimalist dental details are all intact. The tongue & groove eaves are almost new. The plywood clading has deteriorated in most exposed areas but is remarkably all there. I see no evidence of any original stained glass but all the original mullions and framing is all intact. The building basically needs removal of all poor additions and detailing, stripped to it's bare block & wood, reglazed - a new SES & ADA restrooms and it's up a running as whatever it should be...
Additionally, Steven Spielberg was a Bar Mitzvah here. I think the building looks like a modernist ark with it's lid opening.... Connection?
