@banjochris You are correct! The nighttime edition of "The Price is Right" was indeed the first game show ever telecast in color when it aired and was co-produced by NBC (the daytime run was always in black and white). Unfortunately, ABC was still a fledgling network with a tight budget, so in spite of it's brilliant red, blue, white and gold set, it reverted to black and white, and the Ritz Theater (now Walter Kerr) reverted back to a legitimate Broadway theater after TPIR's cancellation.

I did not know that there was an earlier version of TJW from 1969. Was it a network show or syndicated?
-
@lobstertexas no it would be worth 2 pts. that's the way they played the first pilot too.
-
So who won?
-
@Austin7298 Cool -- was that the Barker version or earlier?
-
@banjochris Actually, it was NBC's Truth or Consequences.
-
@pannoni1 I think the Cullen Price is Right may have been the first color game show -- there were quite a few color ones on NBC back in the '50s.
-
@TimelordR I think the Let's Make A Deal Pilot though (1963) takes the cake in terms of earliest color game show.

Wow. What a rare gem! I won't ask where you get this, but this is a treat to all of us game show fans. And I really love those lights around the boards.. too bad it wasn't used for the CBS version
Wow! color footage.
