We were asked whether one could shoot Leica on a budget. The answer is "yes", kinda. We take a look at an adaptor made for the Micro 4/3 cameras like the E-P1, E-P2, E-PL1 and GF1 and try out some Leica M lenses to see whether they really can work together well.

  • Could you please do a video of Leica lenses on a Fuji XPro1 please? When you get the camera of course! (hopefully soon!)

  • Well, not with Leica M lens, not possible. Actually Nikkor lens are one of best, so if I were Nikon user I wouldnt bother much with anything else. But if I would be lets say Canon shooter, I would probably get Zeiss lens. :) Today ZF.2 or ZE lens have automatic aperture so only thing you need to do manualy is focus. And yes, image quality is far better than most Canon lens (most of the time, even Nikons, but that applies usually when you have D3 or D700).

  • leica lens +D7000

    what will happen?

  • The great thing about M4/3 is that there is a great range of adapters out there and a mass of used decent condition budget lenses available on ebay and similar auction sites. I picked up a Tefnon 28mm f2.8 Prime from ebay in a Konica mount and a 50mm f1.8 Konica prime with the same mount. Even with an adapter from Hong Kong I have ended up with a few really nice lenses mounted for under a £100 in total. So even if your purse cannot stretch to Leica or Voigtlander prices you can experiment.

Does IQ compares to SLR equiv?

  • @kurai6 m4/3 by a long shot. the only drawback is that it is more expensive and in most circumstances, less portable.
